Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is a Nintendo Switch release that bundles two distinct Mario experiences on a single cartridge, making it one of the better value propositions in the Switch library for both new players and returning fans of the original Wii U version.

Super Mario 3D World is a full-length platformer that originally launched on Wii U in 2013 and has been enhanced for Switch with faster gameplay, updated online features, and new content. It supports up to four players simultaneously, making it one of the best cooperative platformers available on the console. Each player can choose from Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Toad, each with distinct movement characteristics that affect how you approach levels. The level design is inventive and consistently surprising, blending classic 2D Mario sensibilities with the freedom of 3D movement in a way that feels accessible to younger players while offering enough depth for experienced ones.

Bowser’s Fury is a standalone mode included alongside 3D World and plays very differently. It is a large open sandbox set on Lake Lapcat, where Mario and Bowser Jr. must work together to stop a corrupted, rampaging Bowser from destroying everything. The open world structure, dynamic weather system, and enormous scale of the Fury Bowser encounters make it feel meaningfully different from anything else in the Mario catalogue. It can be completed in a focused session or explored more leisurely, and supports two-player co-op with one player controlling Bowser Jr.
