Starting 12 November 2025, Ryanair will switch entirely to digital boarding passes. After checking in online, passengers will receive their boarding pass exclusively via the Ryanair app. Paper versions will no longer be issued.

The airline says the move will reduce costs, improve efficiency, and save paper. However, for passengers, this mainly means that a smartphone is now essential to board without hassle.

💬 What does this mean for travellers?

• If you don’t check in online, you’ll still need to pay the standard airport check-in fee.

• If your phone is lost or runs out of battery, and you’ve already checked in, a free paper boarding pass will be provided at the airport.

• If you don’t own a smartphone or tablet, you still need to check in online beforehand – then you’ll receive a free printed pass at the airport.

• Special case Morocco: For flights from Morocco, passengers must present the digital boarding pass at the airport to receive a printed version.

You’ll no longer be able to print your pass at home, it’s all handled through the app. To avoid stress, make sure to check in early, keep your battery charged, and have the Ryanair app ready, especially if you’re dealing with poor airport Wi-Fi.
