After a long standoff with the EU, Apple has officially confirmed that its Live Translation feature for AirPods will launch across Europe next month.

Originally delayed due to the Digital Markets Act, Apple has now built a “complicated” workaround to comply with EU regulations. The result? AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, and AirPods 4 (with ANC) will soon be able to translate conversations in real time, directly into your ear, powered by on-device Apple Intelligence.

This means:

• You can talk with people in a foreign language and hear translations instantly.
• If the other person doesn’t use AirPods, a live transcript will appear on your iPhone.
• The feature is also integrated into FaceTime, Phone, and iMessage.

Supported languages include English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and more.

Apple had previously threatened to withhold the feature from the EU market, claiming the DMA forced them into unsafe compromises. Now, the tech giant says it’s ready, but not without criticising the “aggressive” regulatory interpretation.

Expect a public beta soon, and a full rollout next month. Make sure your iPhone runs iOS 26 and is Apple Intelligence-enabled to use it.
