Kala, by author Colin Walsh, has been hailed as ‘The thriller of the moment’ and is a gritty, heartbreaker of a novel, perfect for fans of Tana French and Chris Whitaker. The story centers on a group of six inseparable teenagers in the summer of 2003, with the rebellious Kala Lanann at the heart of the group. Soon after that memorable summer, however, Kala disappeared without a trace, leaving a void in her friends’ lives.

Now, fifteen years later, the past comes crashing into the present. Because human remains have been discovered in the woods, old wounds are reopened, and the friends are forced to confront the mystery of Kala’s fate. The situation is complicated because two more girls have also gone missing. The estranged friends—Helen, Joe, and Mush—must figure out what led to Kala’s disappearance and stop history from repeating itself before it’s too late. The novel is described by critics as ‘Addictive’ and ‘Explosive.’
