Since midnight on 19 September 2025, passengers flying from Dublin Airport can breeze through security a bit more easily. Thanks to new high-tech scanners, the airport has scrapped the old 100ml liquid rule, a policy that had been in place since 2006.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Liquids, gels and electronics can stay inside hand luggage

  • No more 100ml limit: individual items can now be up to 2 litres

  • No need for clear plastic bags

  • All liquids can stay packed normally

  • No item limit on the number of liquids or gels

The upgrade comes after a multi-million euro investment in C3 scanners, which use CT-style 3D imaging to inspect hand luggage. Dublin is now one of the first major airports in Europe to go fully C3.

Daa spokesperson Graeme McQueen described the scanners as offering “the best threat detection technology available”, making airport security faster, safer and smoother.

Just keep in mind:
✔️ You still have to take off belts, boots, hoodies, etc.
✔️ Phones, wallets and keys must still go in the tray
✔️ If you’re flying into Dublin, check the rules at your departure airport – they may still enforce the 100ml limit.

This change could save you time, hassle and some last-minute plastic bag panic before your next trip.
