The Garmin Forerunner 165 is a lightweight running smartwatch built for anyone who wants accurate tracking, simple controls and powerful training features without overpaying for unnecessary extras. It comes with a bright AMOLED touchscreen, quick access buttons and a comfortable 43mm case that sits well on the wrist during daily wear or long runs.

It tracks pace, distance and heart rate with high precision, thanks to Garmin’s fast locking GPS and reliable optical sensor. More than 25 built in activity profiles cover running, cycling, HIIT, strength and casual training. For runners who want structured support, the watch includes adaptive daily suggested workouts that adjust to your performance and recovery. Garmin Coach is also included, giving you guided training plans for race distances.

The morning report shows your sleep quality, recovery and training outlook, helping you decide how hard to push that day. Training effect explains how each session impacts your fitness, while recovery time tells you when your body is ready for the next high effort workout.

Battery life is strong for a watch in this price range. You get up to 11 days in smartwatch mode and up to 19 hours of continuous GPS tracking. Safety features like incident detection can notify an emergency contact with your live location when paired with your phone.

Smartphone notifications appear on your wrist, and the watch integrates fully with the Garmin Connect app for in depth data, route tracking, community features and progress insights. It is a solid all round watch for beginners and experienced runners who want a focused training tool that stays simple to use.
