It’s official: Grand Theft Auto VI won’t launch in spring 2026 as expected. Rockstar Games has now pushed the release date to 19 November 2026, citing the need for more time to polish the game to the level fans “expect and deserve.”

Originally teased for late 2025, the game has already been delayed twice. GTA VI has now been in development for over 7 years and will launch more than 13 years after GTA V, which still continues to sell strongly with over 220 million units shipped.

The upcoming title features a dual-protagonist story with Jason and Lucia, set in a fictional version of Miami (Vice City) and the surrounding state of Leonida. The game is expected to be a major moment for the gaming industry, but fans will have to wait another full year.

Rockstar says the additional time is necessary for “a high level of polish.” Some fans, however, are frustrated after already waiting more than a decade. Meanwhile, Take-Two’s earnings remain strong, with other titles like NBA 2K26 filling the gap.

So if you’re planning to replay GTA V or explore the world of Vice City once again, you’ve got time. And a lot of it.
