From the author of the global bestseller Normal People, comes Intermezzo, a profoundly moving story about grief, love, and the bonds of family. The novel follows two brothers, Peter and Ivan Koubek, who, despite their differences, are brought together by the recent death of their father.

As they navigate their bereavement, Peter, a successful Dublin lawyer, finds himself caught between his first love and a new flame, while Ivan, a competitive chess player, forms an intense connection with an older woman. This is an exquisitely intimate book that explores desire, despair, and the possibility of finding new meaning in life. The book has been hailed as a #1 bestseller and a “Book of the Year” by numerous publications, praised for its heart-wrenching compassion and brilliant characters.
